Patterns are designs that show the same thing over and over. When shapes or colors are repeated, we see a pattern. Some patterns are made by people, and some can be seen in the world around us. Some patterns are made with colors and lines. Other patterns are made with words or numbers or sounds. What patterns can you see and hear?

Have you seen the all the colors of the rainbow? When do we see a rainbow in the sky? What does it tell us about the weather? Bright pretty colors can cheer us up, when we are feeling unhappy. The class in this story used rainbow colors and dress-up costumes to have fun.

In this family, there were three children who each had a small accident at home. Nobody wanted to take the blame, so their parents played a funny trick on them. They showed the children that they couldn't share treats unless they were helpful and honest.

Do you know some things that are very strong? Which animals are very strong? How do you know? Which machines are very strong? What else is strong?

People who play sport usually have to spend time at practice. What does their coach do to help them? Sports teams often have competitions to find out who are the best players. Often there is a prize for the winner or the winning team. Who do you think will win this batting competition?

How old are you? Do you know someone who is very old? Who is very young? How old are your friends? How old are the other people in your family? How old will you be when you have your next birthday?

Do you forget things sometimes? Have you ever forgotten your hat? Do you ever forget to take your lunch to school? What else do you forget?

The first time Hare and Tortoise had a race, Hare stopped and slept while Tortoise kept plodding along to win. Hare was cross that he lost the race, so he wanted to race against Tortoise again. Who do you think won this time?

What can you do with your legs? Which animals have two legs like us? Do you know some animals with four legs? Who else has four legs? Are there some animals with six legs?

Paper chains can be made two different ways. The easy way is to join strips of paper made into circles like rings. Another way is to fold strips of paper, then draw a picture. You must make sure your picture touches the sides of the folded paper. Then you cut around the picture without cutting the part that touches the folds. When you open it up, the sides are joined into a chain.
