Prison crimes rocket to Mars, the prison models danger and chaos, their former jailer body-doubles his uglier self, while the town retreats to native grumpiness. The warden, seething over injured and dying inmates, desperately seeks answers.  It turns out learning the basics of luck stuck in prison was easier than living luck in freedom. Hannah and Jake, now a couple, are visited one last time for a life correction. After hard bargaining with their former warden, Abbott accepts Hannah and Jake's plan to use a willing inmate to save a precious young girl's life from certain death-the first in a plan that saves the lives of thousands-in exchange for finally learning how his crime dropped and rose again-and what it takes to reduce it.  The surprising results seem wonderfully possible in what is the first book of its kind.
