Description
(Joke over) After an overnight party in Sussex, the Bellamys' Rolls, with Georgina at the wheel, strikes a cowman. (Noblesse oblige) Robert Stockbridge proposes to Georgina, and she accepts, but the family requests an eight month engagement. (All the king's horses) It is October 1929, and James returns from America triumphant, having made a fortune in the stock market, but the Crash ruins him overnight. (Whither shall I wander) 165 Eaton Place has to be sold to meet James' debts. The servants and Bellamys drift to their new lives, and Rose is left to lock up the empty house for the last time.
